Åsa Unander-Scharin

Educated at the National College of Dance, since 2004 PhD student at the School of Music/ Luleå University of Technology.
First computer choreographed work: The Lamentations of Orpheus 1998
Choreographer. In her research, she is focusing on different aspects of human qualities in bodily movement. In her choreographic works she collaborates with composers, visual artists, computer programmers, robotic researchers, mathematicians, dancers and musicians. Her works stretches and adds new perspectives to body, space and acoustics with high and low technologies.
The Lamentations of Orpheus, 1998, was a solo for an industrial robot. Her digital dance works has been presented at the Swedish Dancebiennal, Monaco Dance Forum, ArtMovement-festival at the Baltic ArtCenter, Musica e Movimento – concerto, National Arts centre in Mexico City, Electronic Art Forum in Madrid, Arizona State University, Elpub in Gothenburg and at the Interactive Institute in Stockholm. In 1999 The Lamentations of Orpheus was awarded an honorary mention from VIDA 2.0 and in 2006 Petruschka’s Cry was awarded the special prize in VIDA 9.0.
