Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art Bloomfield Hills Michigan, MFA in sculpture from Yale University New Haven Connecticut and a diploma från The Icelandic College of Art and Craft, Reykjavík.

In 2005 Nordal started a collaboration with composer Thurídur Jónsdóttir and mezzo soprano Asgerdur Juniusdottir in a project called Hanaegg (Cock’s Egg). The installation and the performance consisted of 3D animated video and beanbags, music by Thurídur Jónsdóttir for electronic and mezzo soprano, text by Olöf Nordal and performed live by Asgerdur Juniusdottir. Next project is a song circle for mezzo soprano, flute, and electronic. The text is based on poems by Eva Hjalmarsdottir (1905-1962), sung by Asgerdur, composed by Thurídur and performed inside an installation by Nordal.
