Exhibitions, installations, performance and pure sound art.
Concrete sound has been part of my artwork since the beginning. My old tape recorders and recordings are still in use, in combination with sampler, computer and (in live works) the acoustic sounds of voice and objects.
I have experimented with voice and soundtape – in combinations live and tape – objects, acting and fragments of text. The material often concerns deeper layers of existence.
The combination of visual art’s conceptual thinking, and duration/form in composition, is my anarchistic way into sound, over paths drawn by the classical composers. With one foot planted in both traditions (?sorry !), I feel free to play around as I like.
The scene which is chosen for an exhibition or event also decides the form: how do I communicate my toodiloo in those different settings? One has to take into account the real room, and what kind of people that really come to see and hear, and yourself. This is the background for titles like ”Contemporary Lies”, ”Combinations of Truth” and ”To Confirm A Real Room”.
Sometimes the room decides the installation, as when I worked in the old Monastry of Plasy, Czeck Republic (”Plasy Pickles”) or in the huge Turbine-hall of Tyssedal, Norway (”LE BONHEUR”).
Collaborating with visual artists, composers, authors, theatre groups and choreographers. As a member of both the association of Norwegian Visual Artists and the Norwegian Society of Composers I probably cross over in practise.
