Helena Elisabeth Sundin

Sweden, b. 1981 in Härnösand. Lives in Umeå.

Art studies in The Netherlands at the Sint. Joost academy in Breda and at Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. 3 years later she moved to Umeå to finish her art education at the Academy of fine arts in Umeå. Will graduate spring 2007.

 

Helena fronts the one-woman experimental pop orchestra Cake on Cake.

Cake on Cake released her first record I See No Stars on American Desolation Records in September 2005. The EP Sun-Chairs, was released in October 2006 and Cake on Cakes second record I Guess I Was Daydreaming was released 2007. She has also made two soundtracks for videos made by artist Jill Blomqvist and has recorded vocals for the Swedish band Samarkand. A Cake on Cake remix EP is beeing made at the moment and it will be released summer 2007.

 

Helena Sundin and Jill Blomqvist also work together in the art group KOJA, were they work collaboratively with installation, video and sound. Their first piece, the video/installation Högsta punkten på himlen (“Highest point on heaven”) was made April-May 2006. They will participate with new works in a couple of exhibitions in 2007.
