Hildur Ingveldardóttir Gudnadóttir

Iceland, b. 1982.

Studied electro acoustic composition at The Icelandic Academy of the Arts and Universität der Künste in Berlin. Graduated 2005 from the Composition/New Media department of The Icelandic Academy of the Arts, the first person to do so.

First solo album: lost in hildurness 2006

Cellist and composer. She began her cello studies at the age of 6, studying with Gunnar Kvaran and Bryndís Halla Gylfadóttir. As a cellist she has played with a number of musicians. Amongst them are múm, Skúli Sverrisson, Hilmar Jensson, Hafler trio, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Nico Muhly, Valgeir Sigurdsson, Angel, Pan Sonic, SchneiderTM, BJ Nilsen and Stilluppsteypa. She has performed as a cellist all over Europe and the United States.

As a composer she has written music for plays, dance performances and films, pieces for chamber orchestras, various instruments, voices and electronics. Hildur has made sound and visual installations as well as composing and conducting musical performances. She has also assisted other artists such as Christina Kubisch with realizing and setting up sound installations.

Hildur has from a young age taken part of several record releases, the most recent released in 2005 with the bands Stórsveit Nix Noltes and Mr. Schmucks farm.
