Iceland, b. 1969. Lives in Reykjavík, works there and internationally.

BA in Visual Arts at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts 1991-1995. MA at Goldsmiths College in London 2000.

First sound work: Commonnonsense 2003.

In her work Ilmur focuses on the connection or interaction between people and objects. She changes everyday objects into something extra ordinary, adding new functions and uses to them. Her sculptures are a mixture of something quite useful and completely useless.

Ilmur exhibits in galleries and museums, performs, works in theatre and with musicians. She makes sculptures, videos, photographs, stage sets and instruments.

Ilmur has worked together with theatre groups, groups of musicians and in cooperative groups of performing and visual artists.
