Lina Nyberg
Sweden, b. 1970. Stockholm.
Studied at Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm 1991-1993.
Touring in Europe, Japan, Brazil, Canada with own project and others.
Swedish Grammy award 1995, Nominated Swedish Grammy 1998, Awarded ”Jazzkannan” from the Swedish Jazz Federation 2002.
First cd as a leader: Close 1993.
I write music and lyrics and arrange my music and try to be in motion constantly. I strive to have an open mind and be courageous when I sing.
My cd’s as a leader: when the smile shines through ’94, So many stars ’96, Temper ’97, OPEN ’98, Smile ’00, Brasilien ’01, Time ’03, A song book ’03, Saragasso ’04, Tellus ’06.
I work with musicians, dancers and others who can inspire me, help me and/or surprise me in my self-chosen task to explore ways to express myself. I wish that the music for the listeners should be like a painting open for subjective interpretations and moods.
Right now I mainly work with my band PLING (Landaeus, Zetterberg, Fält) and the group DALILOT (Stackenäs, Norelius).
Some of the artists I’ve worked with: Minna Krook choreographer, Anders Jormin bass, Lise-Lotte Norelius live electronics, Esbjörn Svensson piano, Aftab Tahami Persian vocals, among many others.
I’ve also worked with music for the theatre (Stockholms Stadsteater 2000, Göteborgs Stads-teater 2003), and currently I teach at the Academies of Music in Gothenburg and Stockholm.
