Lyttelab
B. 2004 by Johanna Thorning (1977) and Anne Marqvardsen (1977).
Educational background is musicology and art history at the University of Copenhagen, the IT-University, Copenhagen, and Technische Universität Berlin.
The first sound of Lyttelab: the installation ZEITGEIST, an interpretation in sound of the Institute of Musicology (Copenhagen) 2004.
The latest project is the sound exhibition ID – musik for 6 kasser og en kælder (ID – Music for 6 Boxes and a Basement) – a ‘sound toy’ experiment with construction of identity and childhood memories: 6 toys are placed in 6 boxes, each of which contains a speaker. The sounds of the toys have been recorded and used as material for fragmented compositions, which are randomly sent out through loudspeakers. The concept of the exhibition is to examine and challenge the relation between a visual experience and a certain sound – an invitation to the audience to interact through play.
The works of Lyttelab have been exhibited at the University of Copenhagen, at the Nordic Music Days 2004 (Copenhagen), at the event DiGi:wave 2005 (Copenhagen), at the opening of Ørestad Nord (Copenhagen), and at Galleri Molina (Copenhagen).
