Mari Keski-Korsu

Finland, b. 1976. Helsinki.

MA 2003, University of Arts and Design Helsinki.

BA 2000, Kemi-Tornio Polytech, Tornio College of Art and Media.

First sound art work: Am I hurt? 1997.

I am interested in storytelling, chance happenings, visual and aural marks not often paid attention to, but the constituent parts of a whole. For me, it is about making invisible intervention somehow visible, e.g. when two or more people meet. I am also aware that everything considered personal is political. I work with mixed and locative media applying process-oriented methods. I’m concentrated on for example net and video art, streaming happenings and VJaying. I usually somehow connect virtual and physical worlds in my work.

One of my main projects during the last years have been Elephant Paths that maps foot paths and social functions around the world.

My newest project is mikroPaliskunta. I worked as an initiator and executive producer for an art project that travelled by a biodiesel car trough Finland with a stuffed reindeer. mikroPaliskunta studied contemporary images of Finland (still continuing).

My work has been shown around Finland, in Scandinavia and in several other countries, e.g., Germany, Brazil, and Macedonia.

I am a member of media art organisations katastro.fi and Muu Ry.
