Sweden, b. 1961 in Stockholm. Lives in Malmö.

Marit Lindberg works mostly with narrative videos, in the field between documentary and fiction, some of which are based on sound and text.

 

One of her earliest works, Mikaela’s voice, is a portrait of a young girl. Mikaela is telling stories from her own life. Her voice is clear but the image on the screen is blurred. After a while it becomes clear why the picture is so difficult to discern: Mikaela is blind. The original voice is that of a Swedish girl. There are versions with English, Japanese and Chinese voice-over.

 

Marit Lindberg has been working with short videos containing songs, rhymes, language and translations.

Right now she is working together with artist Elisabet Apelmo on a huge installation, which includes sounds from exercising soccer teams, karate girls and a men’s choir.
