Ovro (Satu Karhumaa)

Finland, b. 1970

History student in Turku University. Music-intensive school 1980-86 and hobby-grade piano lessons 1975-84. Digital sound processing, sampling, voice techniques, studio work and other aspects of being a recording and performing artist have been completely self-taught.

My work:

Surreal music, subterranian soundscapes. Dormant volcanoes coming to life. Scratches, crackles and human voices put through alchemy of sound. Bass abuse. Church bells conjured out of the sound of breathing. Odd evo/invocative lyrics. Hauntingly disturbing atmospheres, subconscious landscapes.

Member of:

ritualistic dark ambient-to-noise duo Haeretici 7o74 and improvisation group Kaaos in Eccentris. Also participated in Helsinki Computer Orchestra in their concerts 2003-2004. Ongoing but as yet unreleased cooperations with artists from Lithuania and Japan.
