Sophie Rimheden

Sweden, b. 1975

Program for Cultural Administration and Communication/cinema.

First soundart work: human nature 1994.

Sophie Rimheden, that is starting to get tired of being called the electronica queen of Sweden, has done a third album. This time the experimental has partly made room for the melodic. The album, Sophie Rimheden, is stuffed with presistent pop chourses and soft melodies, sometimes with Sophie´s own lead vocals, and sometimes by guest artist such as Marit Bergman, Kajsa Grytt, Johan Sigerud och Annika Holmberg. This time Sophie releases the album on her own label calles SRP.

Sophie´s first album under her own name, Hi-Fi, was released 2003 on the Berlin-label Mitek. The album was in Sweden nominated in two categories in P# Guld, Grammis, SAMA and to the Manifest-award, wich she also won. The second album, Miss, was released 2004 on the Styockholm-label Svedjebruk, and she has released CDEP´s.

Sophie has also cooperated with the electronica producer Håkan Lidbo on the singel Shout that was a smaller radiohit. They also made debated minimalistic cover of Carola´s Eurovision contest hit Främling that they performed live on Swedish national television gala called Alla tiders melodifestival.

The American magazine URB Magazine appointed Sophie Rimheden as one of the 100 most interesting producer (with no male help) in electronic exprimental music in Sweden. If that is why her unique sound exist is hard to say. She started making music as a child and with electronic music at the age of 13.
