Sound or, more exactly, voice has been part of my work since 2003. Using voice – my own and other people’s – has become a way for me to communicate with e.g. a room, a place or a specific sentence in a song. It started with a performance/recording (a cooperation with Vilmar Cederblad) in a church, where a concert was held every afternoon. We performed a duet by Pergolesi, slowly learning it by singing from score. The result was a slow movement back and forth through music and words:
“Stabat… Stabat… Stabat Mater… Stabat Mater… Dolorosa…” (from Masterclass 2003).
How can voice and words influence your experience of a room or a place? Another line in my work is a kind of intangible interference with walls, ceilings and windows. Here, the voice represents the subject projecting thoughts and ideas on whatever comes in its way:
“I don’t like this decay… I like this decay, think it’s really nice, with the floor and… the old traces you can see in here and… no, I don’t like it, I think it’s ridiqulous, really ridiqulous…” (from Landskap, 2006).
