Norway, b. 1973 in Trondheim.
Composition at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo in 2000. Awards: International Rostrum of Composers in Paris, the Norwegian Edvard prize twice, Arne Nordheim prize, Distinction Award at Prix Ars Electronica.
Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje, composer and performer, works in the improvisation ensemble SPUNK, the noise duo Fe-mail (with Hild Sofie Tafjord) and the performance trio Agrare. She also collaborates with Jazkamer, POING, The Icelandic Dance Company, Odd Johan Fritzøe, Øyvind Berg and Jaap Blonk. Ratkje’s compositions has been performed by Oslo Sinfonietta, The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Arve Tellefsen, Cikada and Vertavo string quartets, Quatuor Renoir, Ticom, crashEnsemble, Torben Snekkestad and Frode Haltli among others. Ratkje has performed her own music for films, dance and theatre performances, installations. Her music has been heard all over Europe as well as in Japan, China, Canada, USA and eastern Russia.
